As I do these interviews with the participants here, I am not trying to focus on the negative, but rather what each person is doing individually to feel content and happy while in a new and different environment. By asking these questions, I am not disregarding the struggles that people who live in these conditions go through all the time. Pain in relative for everyone and when going into an extreme environment it might be difficult for people to find happiness, especially immediately. My goal here is to find what makes people happy under extreme conditions they may not be used to. I certainly believe that there are joys that come from a simple life and hope that in the time we are here, that we will continue to build the camaraderie that you also felt with those you lived with. We are all excited to be able to have this experience and I am excited to continue working with the other participants to discuss happiness as it relates to sustainable behavior.
